ND SatCom's Network Management System for defence networks is based on an open and hierarchical architecture according to international standards. The System Management module performs network planning, resource management and configuration management on the system level, where the system can consist of several networks.

The Network Management module performs fault handling, configuration management, performance analysis and reporting functions on the network level. The Element Manager handles events, alarms, control and configuration parameters of each assigned element.

The Management Communications Network (MCN) is an integral part of the Network Management System, and serves as a transport medium for command, control and communication services between the three system layers and all network entities. The MCN is implemented as an intranet, based on the IP protocol. This state-of-the-art approach ensures maximum flexibility, ease of integration for future extensions, and interoperability across different platforms. The MCN is independent of user communications links. Due to this modular design, ND SatCom Network Management Systems are scalable to different customer requirements.
