Disaster Management is the requirement to be prepared for the show-stopping event which hopefully never occurs. Part of that preparation is the establishment of a network between corporate sites which enables a seamless communications take-over should the terrestrial connectivity at one or more locations become unavailable.
A single-purpose dedicated disaster management network, however, is hardly commercially viable.
With SkyWAN, ND SatCom provides a solution in which the network serves a dual use: During normal operation, the enterprise can run additional traffic over this network and provide its IT infrastructure with extra capacity.
Should a terrestrial connection becomes unavailable, the SkyWAN built-in router will route the traffic via the satellite network and communication is further ensured. If the extra load leads to a capacity conflict, the network internal QoS scheme guarantees the recognition and prioritization of the critical traffic.
This scheme makes necessary backup communications affordable.
