SKYWAN is the most flexible and versatile VSAT system for establishing wide area networks. Through its fully dynamic bandwidth allocation scheme, SKYWAN provides instant bandwidth-on-demand for superior voice and radar in ATC networks keeping air traffic flowing safely — a great responsibility with human lives at stake.
SKYWAN 5G transmits traffic with dynamic data rates from few bits/s up to 100 Mbit/s per site enabling high speed, hub-less communication between all sites. Any site is reached via a single AES-256 encrypted satellite hop in fully meshed network topologies. Emergency services such as the police, fire brigade or homeland security set up a working SKYWAN communications environment swiftly to transmit video footage easily in highest quality. With SKYWAN 5G terminals COTM transmissions continue running thanks to its ultra-fast link re-acquisition far ahead of other solutions.
SKYWAN 5G uses ACM for SCPC links, star or fully meshed networks. SKYWAN 5G is the world’s only VSAT technology allowing multi-channel TDMA networks with True-Mesh ACM for hubless secure communication. SKYWAN with ACM is synonym for single-hop mesh for highest link reliability regardless of weather. With DVB-S2 a mix of transmission technologies (MF-TDMA plus DVB-S2) opens the sky to get more throughput and new kinds of applications without any central hub or traffic bottlenecks.
Flexibility is the decision criterion for SKYWAN 5G. Each remote may become TDMA network controller, or allows DVB-S2 transmissions to/from every node or even scale performance like a hub with the cascading option. Multiple backup devices increase the node availability even for cascaded nodes. When needed, reconfigure a SKYWAN router to SCPC (Point-2-Point) mode and exclusively and efficiently use the full link capacity. Manage your network options: 3 choices with triple access schemes within one unit. The flexibility is yours at any time.
SKYWAN 5G is the All-IP platform covering from cellular networks to service provider networks, governmental and military networks. The virtual routing functions (VRF) and trunking capabilities serve multiple customers per terminal and delivers highest throughput and transmission security. Payload compression for TCP/UDP/IP and GTP as used in mobile network access nodes in combination with the efficient dynamic bandwidth assignment further boosts data throughput in full meshed single-hop hub-less topologies.
Manage your mission critical networks invoking your preferred browser with NMS to modify easily parameters in live networks. Transactions orchestrate network wide parameter rollouts or allow to undo parameter modifications in the network. Operators use HTTPS based GUIs while experts use the secure command line interface for additional tool integration. Backup NMS appliances may be hosted anywhere. With NMS you diminish impact from cyber threats by activating security and stability patches whenever you want while saving scarce bandwidth with the smart and secure “over-the-air” update mechanism.
As soon as your SKYWAN 5G network is operational, NMS is not required anymore - all traffic prioritisation for real-time or best effort traffic as supported by QoS mechanisms, load balancing, or beam switching is implemented in each node.
SKYWAN 5G technology is available as scalable 1U indoor or ruggedized outdoor unit. It is integrated in the ManPack SPT 600M terminal or is used as the modem of choice integrated into lightweight manpack or flyaway mesh capable COTP terminals or packaged with on-the-move antennas for land- or sea-mobile COTM solutions.

SKYWAN Portable Terminal SPT 600 M
The lightweight SKYWAN Portable Terminal SPT 600 M is a compact VSAT with integrated SKYWAN 5G satellite router facilitating rapid deployment of high throughput for any to any connectivity across SKYWAN networks.The carbon fiber chassis of the SPT 600 M comprises all elements including the SKYWAN 5G modem, an Antenna Pointing Controller (APC), the internal AC and DC power supply, and the mounted BUC and LNB for immediate use. The APC display serves to aim the 60cm dish to lock into the proper SKYWAN MF-TDMA network, one button will activate transmission. Interface to the user is via two Ethernet ports to attach VoIP phones or any other IP devices.

The SKYWAN FAD 9120 extends the SKYWAN FAD 9220 / 9230 and FAD 8400 Integrated Access Router family with its small 1U form factor with 2 expansion slots.
With its adaptation to the ND SATCOM SKYWAN broadband VSAT system highest bandwidth efficiency for voice, data and video transmission is achieved. This combination defines state-of-the-art communications in mission critical environments.
Its compression and multiplexing technology together with its prioritization capabilities make FAD the product of choice for satellite networks running converged voice and data applications in Air Traffic Control, Oil & Gas, Government, Military and Enterprise networks. It also allows seamless integration of terrestrial and satellite infrastructure into one unified network topology reducing cost and minimizing complexity.
A complete set of analog and digital voice interfaces (as known from the bigger variant FAD 9220) together with an unmatched support of signaling protocols enable flawless interconnectivity even with legacy PBX systems.
IP services like OSPF or RIP routing, bridging and VLAN support, together with a wide range of supported synchronous and asynchronous serial data services complement the FAD capabilities to be used as an all-purpose multi-service integrated access router.
SKYWAN FAD 9140

The SKYWAN family of VSAT networking products is complemented by the FAD 9140, a compact high performance universal access device of latest technology. The FAD 9140 is an application-aware router and multiplexer, combining the functionality of a data router, a multiplexer and a VHF/voice gateway in a single device, enabling organizations to create converged networks and transport any type of traffic over satellite.
The FAD 9140 is a high speed, low cost, flexible and compact unit that supports 16 analog or 120 digital telephony channels in a multitude of application scenarios. The universal access device provides concentration and switching of packetized voice as well as data from the LAN ports and/or the serial interfaces. Being specifically adapted to the SKYWAN VSAT system, the combination of both defines the state of the art for voice quality in packetized transmissions over satellite. Bandwidth usage is minimized through efficient compression and dynamically call set-up. Extension interface cards add optional hardware interfaces to the unit.
The FAD 9140 provides a safe migration path from legacy TDM or Frame Relay networks to IP-centric networks. It includes support for the latest VoIP (SIP) and Eurocae WG67 ED-136/137 standards and robust IP/Ethernet QoS, with eight classes of service and 16 levels of prioritization to ensure that mission-critical applications always receive sufficient bandwidth. In addition, specialty features are available for handling the particulars of radar, voice push-to-talk (PTT) and VHF voice applications common to Air Traffic Control and governmental networks.
IP services like OSPF or RIP routing, bridging and VLAN support, together with a wide range of supported synchronous and asynchronous serial data services complement the FAD capabilities to be used as an all-purpose multi-service integrated access router.
SKYWAN FAD 8400
The SKYWAN family of Frame Relay Access Devices is complemented by the SKYWAN FAD 8400, a device which supports serial ports only. The FAD 8400 enables enterprises and service providers to incrementally scale their network infrastructure as requirements for additional serial ports increase. It can be used stand-alone or to extend the three serial ports of the FAD 9120 or the FAD 9220/9230.The number of serial ports can be increased to whatever levels because multiple devices can be chained together. Since the FAD 8400 is an IP device with multiple connectivity options, it easily integrates into any network.
The FAD 8400 can handle framed serial traffic or support transport circuit emulation and then send the resulting data over SKYWAN networks. It supports the leading LAN and WAN interface protocols including Frame Relay, HDLC, PPP and Power Cell.
The FAD 8400 is available in two options:

The Ka2Go terminal is the most reliable and advanced vehicle-mounted antenna system within ND SATCOM’s Ka-band antenna family for mobile VSAT. It is designed to fulfill the most demanding broadcasting needs within the Ka-band market.The Ka2Go terminal is based on a proven lightweight and robust design with a patented motorized positioner and an Automatic Pointing System to any satellite. This terminal supports the KA-SAT modem family and is an ideal solution for the EUTELSAT NewsSpotter service.This streamlined aerodynamic terminal has small dimensions allowing it to be mounted on any passenger vehicle. Mobile Terminals / Military SatCom
An increasing number of out-of-area missions require a communication network which can receive and broadcast information with the utmost reliability at all times. ND SatCom offers a wide range of mobile and transportable satellite ground terminals in tri-band (C-, X- and Ku-Band) or single band configuration up to Ka-Band. They are designed for rapid set-up and operation under harsh environmental conditions, and are available in different mechanical configurations, from trailer or vehicle-mounted to Fly-Away configurations in transport boxes. MTT 4600
High Capacity SatCom Solution for Military Missions.Whenever in need of a robust satellite terminal for strategic applications, the MTT4600 is the terminal of choice!
The MTT4600 system is available in C-, X-, Ku- and tri-band configuration. The 4.6 m antenna, together with the RF equipment, is mounted on a trailer and automatically folds into a compact unit without any disassembling. It requires a towing capability of approximately 5 tons and is air transportable aboard C-130 and C-160 aircraft. The system is set up and ready for transmission in less than 60 minutes. With the MTT4600 you quickly deploy your network, wherever you need it. It covers a large variety of applications, and is ideally suited, e.g. as in-theater network hub.
