
SKYWAN Satellite Router
SKYWAN is a highly flexible and versatile MF-TDMA VSAT system for establishing wide area networks. Acting either as IP routers or Frame Relay switches - or both at the same time - the SKYWAN network integrates seamlessly. It enables mobile and transportable applications with the smallest antennas and highest performance. Through its fully dynamic bandwidth allocation scheme SKYWAN provides instant bandwidth-on-demand for superior voice and high definition video quality. SKYWAN transmits traffic bursts with dynamic data rates from 64 Kbit/s up to 100 Mbit/s per site and enables high speed, hub-less communication between all sites. Any site can be reached via a single satellite hop connection supporting fully meshed network topologies.
SKYWAN Product Lines
ND SatCom offers two VSAT system product lines that have MF-TDMA in common: SKYWAN 7000 series At a first glance, these two independent products seem to be identical and 1:1 replaceable. However, in addition to all the common capabilities for building meshed VSAT network topologies, these products differ significantly: the satellite interfaces are not compatible because SKYWAN 5G is designed for a new configuration concept, differing protocol implementations in TDMA including meshed spot beams with beam switching and higher layers services like network wide IP QoS mechanisms as well as OSPF routing linked to VRF domains. | |||||
SKYWAN 5GSKYWAN 5G is the new All-IP platform that targets commercial markets like cellular networks and service providers requiring virtual routing or trunking capabilities to serve multiple customers per terminal or are demanding for high IP throughput in star or mesh networks. With SKYWAN 5G each node may become TDMA network controller, or allows DVB-S2 transmissions to/from every node or even scale performance like a hub when using the cascading option. SKYWAN 5G networks have up to 16 TDMA channels with load balancing, integrated node redundancy or virtual routing functions (VRF). Each TDMA channel can be unique with a ModCod from BPSK up to 16-APSK. Payload compression for TCP/UDP/IP and GTP as used by LTE eNodeBs in combination with the efficient dynamic bandwidth assignment and hardware link encryption (AES-256) further boosts data throughput in full meshed single-hop hub-less topologies. With DVB-S2 in addition a mix of transmission technologies (MF-TDMA plus DVB-S2) opens the sky to get more throughput and new kinds of applications that avoid a central hub and traffic bottlenecks. SKYWAN 5G nodes are configured with a NMS appliance that uses transactions to modify parameters in the live network. Transactions automatically perform a controlled roll-back in case of failures or allow to undo last parameter modifications in the network. All NMS configuration communication uses only secure communication when upgrading software on the nodes or changing one or multiple parameters in a transaction. As soon as your SKYWAN 5G network is operational, NMS is not required anymore - all traffic priorization for real-time or best effort traffic as supported by QoS mechanisms is implemented in each node. SKYWAN 5G operators use the WEB based GUIs to access all nodes or the NMS itself via HTTPS only. For experts the NMS appliance and the SKYWAN 5G modems provide a command line interface with Cisco-style syntax for additional tool integration. The traditional management protocol SNMP is available for monitoring only. And in case you use the NMS appliance for service monitoring, additonal backup NMS appliances may be located anywhere to manage the SKYWAN 5G network. SKYWAN 5G technology is available as scalable 1U indoor or ruggedized outdoor unit. It is integrated in the ManPack SPT 600M terminal or is used as the modem of choice integrated into lightweight manpack or flyaway mesh capable COTP terminals or packaged with on-the-move antennas for land- or sea-mobile COTM solutions. | SKYWAN 7000 seriesSKYWAN 7000 series is the feature rich flagship product with a long success story in reliable governmental networks, fully redundant air traffic control networks but also COTM scenarios. SKYWAN 7000 series was introduced with the new Turbo-Phi coding and since then many new features were added. The modular SKYWAN modems come in many variants and chassis types tuned for specific scenarios. SKYWAN 7000 series modems are deployed in networks where reliability is key. Extensions to monitor ODUs, dedicated interfaces to Redundancy Control Units and protocol extensions to ensure fully redundant node designs for all used services characterize this product line. With multiple interfaces for Frame Relay (UNI and NNI) the SKYWAN 7000/2x70 modems provide seamless service integration with additional IP traffic. The frame relay switch integrated in SKYWAN 7000/2x70 modems gives lowest overhead for end-to-end real-time services using selected external Frame Relay Access Devices for a plurality of legacy voice, video, radar and data user devices. Protocol extensions are implemented to allow special signaling with Access Devices for voice call and voice codec processing leading to satellite bandwidth savings. For networks with highest security demands, the SKYWAN 7000 series provides strong encryption (AES-256) in hardware on TDMA level with no performance penalty, and even comes in variants for WGS and FIPS 140-2 level 3 certified nodes. SKYWAN 7000 series supports COTM waveforms with verified COTM antenna systems where mobility is a must for some or even all network nodes. |

SKYWAN Portable Terminal SPT 600 M
The lightweight SKYWAN Portable Terminal SPT 600 M is a compact VSAT with integrated SKYWAN 5G satellite router facilitating rapid deployment of high throughput for any to any connectivity across SKYWAN networks.The carbon fiber chassis of the SPT 600 M comprises all elements including the SKYWAN 5G modem, an Antenna Pointing Controller (APC), the internal AC and DC power supply, and the mounted BUC and LNB for immediate use. The APC display serves to aim the 60cm dish to lock into the proper SKYWAN MF-TDMA network, one button will activate transmission. Interface to the user is via two Ethernet ports to attach VoIP phones or any other IP devices.

It can use the full range of ODU options to support disadvantaged locations or higher return channel data rates. The SKYWAN 2570 interacts with the RFT 5000 series.

SKYWAN 2070

The SKYWAN 1070 is a recent addition to the ND SatCom SKYWAN product family, providing a compact and cost-efficient remote terminal. It is fully compatible with the existing SKYWAN 7000 terminal series and supports multiple IP interfaces. A dedicated IP interface is available for management traffic only to further enhance security. The SKYWAN 1070 terminal is available with various built-in AC and DC options to power a wide range of ODU units.The SKYWAN 1070 provides optimized IP networking capabilities in various network topologies and is ideally suited to support enterprise and governmental network applications where performance and size is key. SKYWAN FAD 8400
The SKYWAN family of Frame Relay Access Devices is complemented by the SKYWAN FAD 8400, a device which supports serial ports only. The FAD 8400 enables enterprises and service providers to incrementally scale their network infrastructure as requirements for additional serial ports increase. It can be used stand-alone or to extend the three serial ports of the FAD 9120 or the FAD 9220/9230.The number of serial ports can be increased to whatever levels because multiple devices can be chained together. Since the FAD 8400 is an IP device with multiple connectivity options, it easily integrates into any network.
The FAD 8400 can handle framed serial traffic or support transport circuit emulation and then send the resulting data over SKYWAN networks. It supports the leading LAN and WAN interface protocols including Frame Relay, HDLC, PPP and Power Cell.
The FAD 8400 is available in two options:

2.4m Mobile Station
Compact SatCom Station Solution for Mobile Use.This mobile station design for disaster recovery, crisis management, emergency response or interim/backup uplinks uses our field proven platform that comes with flexible transport options and easy set-up.
Core element of this mobile station is our 2.4m self-supporting antenna supporting C, Ku, DBS and Ka-Band. The terminal provides plenty of space for electronic equipment in its 24RU climate controlled vibration-cushioned rack space. A built-in power generator allows permanent stand-alone operation.

High Power Amplifier
ND SatCom offers a range of Ku-Band and DBS Band HPAs, which can be delivered either as Indoor or Outdoor versions. In addition to these mainly in a commercial environment used HPAs, 500W Tri-Band (C/X/Ku) outdoor units are offered. Optionally the majority of the models are offered with an integrated BUC (block up-converter) and/or with a Linearizer. This range of high quality, “Made in Germany”, products nicely fit into Systems like TV-Uplinks, HUB Stations, Anchor Station as well as SNG vehicles and other transportable Earth Stations. Our portfolio for the TWT amplifiers also include Front Panel Controllers, Standardized Redundancy set-ups like 1+1 / 2+1 and 3+1, Customized Redundancy set-ups and n+1 redundant systems including filter/combiner networks.

Mobile Terminals / Military SatCom
An increasing number of out-of-area missions require a communication network which can receive and broadcast information with the utmost reliability at all times. ND SatCom offers a wide range of mobile and transportable satellite ground terminals in tri-band (C-, X- and Ku-Band) or single band configuration up to Ka-Band. The MTT4600 system is available in C-, X-, Ku- and tri-band configuration. The 4.6 m antenna, together with the RF equipment, is mounted on a trailer and automatically folds into a compact unit without any disassembling. It requires a towing capability of approximately 5 tons and is air transportable aboard C-130 and C-160 aircraft. The system is set up and ready for transmission in less than 60 minutes. With the MTT4600 you quickly deploy your network, wherever you need it. It covers a large variety of applications, and is ideally suited, e.g. as in-theater network hub.
